A change of mallet

I’ve been looking at my technique for punching holes on card templates, trying to find a cleaner, more accurate way to keep the holes evenly aligned on all sides. One thing I’ve been considering is whether the type of mallet I use would make a difference.

I’ve used a round nylon mallet for most of my work so far, but recently started looking at wooden mallets with flat heads, which might offer better control and accuracy.

I tried a basic lightweight wooden mallet I already had in the workshop, and the initial results were encouraging. It seemed to give me more control over the strike and helped keep the holes aligned.

It’s a small change, but one worth exploring further before deciding which works best.
